No fewer than six suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Gwaram area of Jigawa State by the Police Command. The suspects were nabbed five days after the new Commissioner of Police Rasheed Akintunde assumed duty.
Parading the suspects, The Commissioner of Police stated that on November 20, 2016 at about 11.20am, a distress call was received from one of the Fulani settlement in Gwaram area that about eight hoodlums stormed the settlement harassed members of the family and abducted one girl.
The suspects, who confessed said, they kidnapped the girl in the house of Alhaji Babaginda in the area about two months where they collected N70,000 before releasing her.
CP Akintunde said his men pursued the kidnappers and caught up with one Abubakar Yahaya who was immediately arrested while the remaining suspects fled. Whilst the victim was rescued by the Police the remaining five suspects were later arrested subsequently.
The suspects, Danazumi Muhammed Yahaya 30 years old, Garba Rabiu 25 years old, Yahuza A. Bawa 30 years old, Kacela Musa Mugala 40 years old and Magaji Adamu 35 years old are all from Sharhori, Larabawa and Daba Fulani settlements in Gwaram Local Government area.
