The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni yesterday led senior officers of the State Police Command to an emergency meeting with the traditional rulers in Ikorodu, in a bid to end the menace of the dreaded notorious cult group badoo.
Officers who were present at the crucial meeting DC (SCID), DCP Bolaji Salami, the Area Commander Ikorodu, ACP Garuba, the RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu and other DPOs whilst Obas’ and other traditionalists in Ikorodu and its environs represented the community in the meeting that signpost a collaborative effort of the Police and Ikorodu residents toforestall and end the menace of the cult group and also to put a stop to the ill-fated jungle justice melted on suspected members of the dreaded group .
Speaking at the meeting, the CP Owoseni emphasized the need to put suspected badoo members under a proper scrutiny rather than engaging in a mob action which could jeopardize the discreet surveillance /screening and interrogation that would avail necessary intelligence the Police needs to prosecute them.
He said jungle justice can as well lead to killing of the innocents’ residents without proper confirmation and identification which can be regarded as murder.
The meeting was also geared towards upholding a neighborhood watch approach which could also help in the security alertness of the residents in curbing the menace of ritual killing which has besieged Ikorodu residents over the months.
CP Fatai Owoseni, advised the residents to endeavor to know their neighbors and be more security conscious.
