Ebonyi Police Arrest 18 Suspects Recovers 11 Stolen Cars

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested 18 suspected criminals terrorising the State and also recovered 11 suspected stolen cars from the hoodlums. The State Commissioner of Police Titus Sumba-Lamorde who briefed journalist at the Command headquarters in Abakaliki said the suspects were arrested within and outside the State.

The CP said that the suspects were picked up at different locations while carrying out their nefarious activities adding that five of the suspects were arrested for vandalising some communication equipment belonging to one of the network provider at Isu in Onitcha Local Government Area of the State.

According to CP Lamorde, the arrest of the suspects is as a result of adequate measures put in place by the Command in collaboration with other security agencies in the State. Items recovered from the suspects include, 23 locally-made pistols, five Dane guns, one assault Beretta rifle and some quantities of live ammunition with cartridges of different brands. He added that two AK 47 and four pump action rifles as well as some suspected charms were recovered from the suspects.

“The Command has put in place adequate security measures to checkmate the nefarious activities of criminals in the State and the efforts are yielding results already. We are warning criminals to steer clear of Ebonyi State because it is not a safe haven for them”, the CP said.

Lamorde warned that all criminally minded persons should turn a new leaf or meet their waterloo. He assures the people of Police readiness to curb crime in the yuletide period and beyond while urging citizens to always report wrong movement around them to the Police.
