Guber Elections: Abia gets new CP

Barely 24 hours to the governorship and House of Assembly elections, the Police High Command has deployed a new Commissioner of Police, Awosola Awotinde, to Abia State.

The new Commissioner of Police replaces CP Etim Okon, who joined DIG Anthony Ogbizi to speak on strategies and level of preparedness of the State Command for the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled for this Saturday.

Awosola Awotinde upon arrival, met with heads of all the sister security agencies at the Police headquarters in Umuahia to familiarize himself with his colleagues from other sister agencies.

He also assured the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Dr. Joseph Iloh, of the Police commitment to work.

Speaking with newsmen on Friday, the new CP stated that he has no problems getting the job done as a professional irrespective of location.

The State Police boss also solicited the cooperation of sister agencies in the discharge of their duties for Saturday’s elections.

Meanwhile, CP Etim Okon has been moved to Ebonyi State where Awotinde came from to replace him.
