Man Chained For 18 Months by Grandmother Rescued By Police in Lagos

A middle age man, one Bolaji Sholola was yesterday freed by policeman from the Area D Command Mushin after being chained for over 18 months in Thor apartment at 18 Damigoro Street, Mushin Area of Lagos State by his 85 year old grandmother.

The police acting on intelligence report, the Mushin Area Command, ACP Akinbayo Olasoji led a team of police to the building  and found the victim in a room chained with an offensive stench emitting from it

During interrogation, the victim’s grandmother said Sholola (victim) was mentally deranged and was chained so that he will not go astray and to make him available for treatment, while preventing him from attacking residents.

But Sholola, who claimed to be 50 years responded accurately to questions posed to him, adding that he is married and a trained medical doctor.

The Area D Commander, ACP Akinbayo Olasoji immediately ordered that the victim should be unchained and gave him a change of raiment before being transferred to a psychiatric home in Yabato ascertain his mental abilities.
