The Police boss said these strategies would enhance community policing which revolves around the belief that policing cannot be effective without the support and cooperation of the people, adding that intelligence led policing and visible Police patrol on major highways are complemented with the technical/scientific based investigation to detect authors of crime.
IGP Idris expressed confidence considering the detailed investigation being conducted on the cases that the Police will secure conviction at the court, “You are very much aware of the fate of the notorious kidnapper Henry Chibueze, “Vampire” and Chukwudume Onwamadike, (aka Evans) and many others who were arrested, considering the detailed investigation being conducted on these cases, Insha Allah, we must gain conviction”, he concluded.
Speaking on the need for the public lecture, IGP Ibrahim Idris said it is organised to find a lasting solution to the challenges of insecurity in the country, explaining that this was the second in the series of public lectures he intends to organise.
The IGP noted that the first was organised in Lagos which covers the South-West Zone and this second lecture covers the South-South zone. He said dates for the other zones will be communicated as no zone will be left uncovered in the series.
“I consider these public lecture series across the Geo-Political Zones very crucial in resolving our security challenges. It is my believe that these lecture series will assist the Police in understanding the different security challenges confronting the various Geo-Political Zones and help articulate solutions and strategies to tackle them”, IGP Idris said.
He said the ideas gathered in the public lectures will help to formulate lasting strategies and solutions to the challenges, adding that every nation deserves security for its social and economic development as there is a close nexus between security and social-economic development.
IGP Idris assured the people that the Police under his watch is committed to defeating all security challenges confronting the nation while pleading for the support of the South-South people and that of all Nigerians as the Police cannot do it alone.
