The Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has approved the deployment of 15, 000 personnel, sniffers dogs and Mobile Surveillance Vehicles to ensure a hitch free governorship election in Anambra State.
Addressing senior officers at the National headquarters in Abuja, the Commandant General disclosed that specialized units such as SWAT, CBRN, CTU, Undercover and Specialized Forces to protect the critical infrastructures and National assets situated in the State and its environs from being vandalized by criminal elements.
He said sniffer dogs will also be deployed in the State and warned criminally minded individuals who may take advantage of activities like the election to carry out their nefarious activities.
Explaining further, the NSCDC boss charged the DCG in-charge of Operations, Kelechi Madu to head the operation and to ensure optimal performance and result is achieved, while Assistant Commandants General from Zone C, Imo, Zone G, Benin and two from the headquarters and Commandants from neighboring States will assist the DCG.
CG Gana said the personnel will be drawn from neighboring Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Delta, Edo and Abia States Command respectively to compliment the deployment from Anambra State Command, adding that the special monitoring team from the National Headquarters, insisting that they are all well trained officers who are duty-bound to uphold the Corp mandate.
According to the NSCDC boss, the Corps is ready and willing to cooperate and synergize with other security agencies to ensure the safety of all electorates, electoral officials and materials before, during and after the elections.
