The Lagos State Police Command has asked Nigerian pop artist Damini Ogiulu, a.k.a Burna boy to report self to a nearest Police Station in connection with alleged robbery of Abiye David Jumbo, aka 2kay, who was robbed in his hotel room at Eko Hotel after his performance at a show organized by Buckwyld Media Network Limited.
Abiye David, aka 2kay was attacked with his girlfriend by four armed men on October 22, 2017 in his room after performing and had retired to his room in the night.
His Audemais Piquet (AP), Automatic Gold Wristwatch valued $25, 000, Gold jewelry’s valued at N 1,500,000, iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S5, Addidas shoe, and a cash sum of N45,000 along with his perfume were carted taken away at gun point.
Four suspects have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command in connection with the robbery. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Edgal Imohimi, who paraded the suspects said the Command carried out investigation which involved interviews and probing of the hotel’s CCTV camera, adding that a girlfriend of one of the gang member, one Mutajero Nimota was arrested which led to the arrest of three other suspects.
He gave the names of the suspects as Balogun Ademola, Obina Igwe and Omotore Tunmise. The CP said discreet investigation revealed that Damini Ogiulu, aka Burna boy was the mastermind of the attack. The CP had therefore called on the artist to make himself available to a nearest Police Station whiles maintaining that the Command would not tolerate any form of indiscipline.
Meanwhile, during interrogation, the Police said the gang confessed that one Joel Kantiock who claimed to be the road manager to Burna boy contacted them to rob 2kay, adding that it was to teach him a lesson.
According to the suspect, Joel Kantiock, his boss Burna boy asked him to look for armed men that can carry out the attack and added that he mobilized the team with an initial N50, 000 advance before balancing them with another N50, 000 after the job was done.
In another development, the Command also busted syndicates of criminals who specialize in getting jobs as cooks or house helps and while in service gain the trust of the principal and inject their food with drugs to make them sleep off and use the opportunity to rob their principal’s belongings.
CP Edgal who paraded the suspects said the syndicates had robbed their first victim of items worth ten million, nine hundred and forty three thousand Naira, (N10.943.000). He said the Police on getting the information use another woman Mrs Augustina Eba Akhibi as bait to bust the syndicate.
According to CP Edgal exhibits recovered from the group include; Diazepam Injectable (IPS), Nitrogen (morgodon) tablet made I nto powder, one syringe filled with suspected substance, and another empty syringe.
The Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi whilst appreciating members of public for their cooperation, urged everyone to partner with the Police in the fight against crime and criminality. He said all the suspects arrested would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
