The Police in Edo State has arrested two brothers for allegedly murdering their 67-year-old grandmother for an alleged money ritual purpose in connivance with two other relatives in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State. Confirming the incident, Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo said the two boys killed their grandmother for an alleged ritualistic intention but added that the ritual aspect was not part of the Police investigations.
“The two boys identified as Dickson Oluka and Salaye Oluka, killed their grandmother after allegedly consulting a native doctor about their desire to become wealthy CP Kokumo said. The victim, a 67-year-old, identified as Grace Ovbiebo was said have been killed at Asowota Street, Ohovbe quarters, in Benin City, the State capital of Edo State.
The suspects were said to have told the Police during investigation that they were advised by a native doctor to strap live tortoises around their backs and kill a close relative with the assurance that they would become rich afterwards. After conspiring among themselves, they held their grandmother and smashed her head against a wall, and she died instantly. Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police said a manhunt have been launched for the two fleeing relatives identified as Matins Oluka and Austin Enayi who conspired with the two siblings to kill their grandmother.
