Team officials were also paid the naira equivalent of $50,000 each under the Presidential Reward approved for the squad by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) said the payments were credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on September 9, 2026, adding that all the players and officials had confirmed receipt of the funds.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the NSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Kehinde Ajayi, on Wednesday.
The commission said the cash payment marked the completion of all components of the reward package promised by the President to members of the victorious team.
According to the NSC, the package included three-bedroom apartments in Abuja, national honours of the Order of the Niger (OON), and cash awards of the naira equivalent of $100,000 for each player and $50,000 for each official.

The NSC recalled that the players and officials had earlier received title documents for their Abuja apartments as well as certificates confirming their national honours in February 2026 during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Lyon, France.
It said the documents were duly signed by President Tinubu, while the cash component was subsequently processed following the team’s participation in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany.
The commission also provided an update on the Presidential Reward approved for the Super Falcons, saying members of Nigeria’s senior women’s football team had already received title documents for their three-bedroom apartments in Abuja and certificates for their national honours.
The documents were presented to the Falcons during the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco between July and August.
The NSC said the cash component of the Falcons’ reward was expected to be paid before their next official engagements. Each player is to receive the naira equivalent of $100,000, while officials are entitled to $50,000 each.
The commission described the rewards as part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian athletes and recognising outstanding performances on the international stage.
It said the initiative was consistent with the administration’s Renewed Hope and Shared Prosperity agenda, particularly its emphasis on rewarding athletes for exceptional achievements.
The NSC commended President Tinubu for his continued support for Nigerian sports, noting that his policies had strengthened ongoing reforms and contributed to efforts to build a sustainable sports economy.
It also acknowledged the contributions of relevant government agencies and ministries, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
According to the commission, the cooperation among the agencies enabled the Presidential Reward package to be implemented within the required due process and in record time.
