The incident occurred around 11pm on Monday when the attackers reportedly stormed the community and opened fire, forcing residents to flee their homes.
A local resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said two people were shot dead while attempting to prevent the gunmen from taking Fanka away.
According to the resident, the attackers were heavily armed and overpowered those who tried to intervene before escaping with the APC chairman.
The incident occurred less than a day after gunmen attacked Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area, killing the APC Chairman of Rantan Ward, Alhaji Garba Buba, and another resident identified as Sulaiman Zunduma.
The latest attack is the third major security incident reported in parts of Kano State within about 72 hours.
Earlier, suspected bandits had invaded Chiromawa community in Garun Mallam Local Government Area, where they abducted the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo.
Nadabo was later rescued following a coordinated response by security personnel and local residents, although three people sustained injuries during the operation.
The series of attacks has renewed concerns over the growing threat of kidnapping and armed criminal activities across communities in Kano State.
Reacting to the deteriorating security situation, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, said on Monday that the Federal Government was working on a five-year defence and security strategy to strengthen the country’s response to emerging security threats.
Meanwhile, attempts to obtain an official reaction from the Kano State Police Command regarding the latest incident were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
Calls to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, were not answered, while a message sent to him had not received a response.
