The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its soldiers wanted over allegations that he illegally sold and supplied military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal groups.
According to the Corps, the soldier, identified as Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory before he allegedly fled his duty post on June 3, 2026, following preliminary investigations into the matter.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko, the Corps confirmed the development.
“The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements,” the statement said.
The Corps disclosed that security operatives are making concerted efforts to track down and arrest the soldier so he can face a comprehensive investigation and any disciplinary measures prescribed under military law.
Reaffirming its position, the NAOC stressed that it would not condone any act capable of undermining the integrity of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security.
“The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps wishes to state unequivocally that it has zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline, or any act capable of compromising the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security,” it added.
The military further warned that any personnel found assisting terrorists, criminal gangs or other non-state actors through the unlawful sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled military items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
The Corps also appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful intelligence to report it to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
Reassuring Nigerians of its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Corps said:
“The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reassures Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets.
“The Corps will continue to strengthen internal control measures and ensure that every allegation of misconduct is thoroughly investigated while those found culpable are held fully accountable,” it added.
