The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather and thunderstorms in different parts of the country on Monday, August 24, 2026.
According to the agency’s weather outlook, northern states are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions in the morning, followed by thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in the afternoon and evening.
Across the North-Central region, cloudy skies are expected during the morning hours, with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall likely over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger and Plateau states later in the day.
In the southern region, NiMet forecast cloudy weather in the morning, with light rainfall possible in parts of Ebonyi, Enugu, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
The agency further predicted moderate rainfall at intervals across most parts of the southern states during the afternoon and evening.
NiMet warned that thunderstorms could be preceded by strong winds and urged residents, particularly those living in flood-prone and low-lying areas, to remain vigilant.
It advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid flooded roads and urged residents to disconnect electrical appliances during thunderstorms where necessary.
The agency also advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather information from NiMet to support safe flight planning and operations.
