The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the alleged killing of a 25-year-old man, Mohammed Musa, during a fight in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.
According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, following a reported altercation between the victim and a suspect identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as “Dan Iya.”
Police said the disagreement reportedly escalated, during which Abdullahi allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Musa.
The injured victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for treatment but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Following the report, operatives from the ‘A’ Division Township moved swiftly to the scene, arrested the suspect and recovered the alleged weapon used in the incident.
The victim’s remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police directed investigators to conduct a thorough probe into the incident and ensure that justice is served.
He also appealed to residents to avoid violence and promptly report suspicious activities to the police or other relevant security agencies.
