Olalekan was reportedly taken into custody in the early hours of Friday, August 28, 2026, after four police officers attached to the State CID arrived at his residence in Ede, Osun State.
The reason for his arrest remains unclear, as the police have not publicly stated why he was taken into custody or disclosed any specific allegation against him.
The development comes amid heightened political activities in the state following the recent governorship election.
Sources familiar with the incident said there was still uncertainty over the circumstances surrounding Olalekan’s arrest.
The arrest has reportedly generated concern among members of the governor’s media team, with questions being raised over whether other media aides could also be targeted.
One of the sources said, “We have information that the police may be tracking media aides of the governor and it is unclear why they are doing this.”
It remains uncertain whether Olalekan’s arrest is linked to the recent governorship election or forms part of an unrelated police investigation.
Efforts to obtain clarification from the Osun State Police Command were unsuccessful, as its Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, had not responded to inquiries as of the time of filing this report.
