The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate as part of its ongoing efforts to rid the state of violent criminals.
The Command disclosed that the arrests were made by its operatives acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, during an intelligence-led operation targeting one-chance gangs operating within the state.
The suspects were identified as 45-year-old Uche Samuel from Omunato Local Government Area of Imo State and 42-year-old Nkechi Amadi from Nekede, Imo State.
According to the police, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities during interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate still at large.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s determination to eliminate one-chance operators and other violent criminals, stressing that there would be no safe haven for criminal elements in Rivers State.
He said the Command would continue to strengthen intelligence-driven policing and proactive operations aimed at identifying, arresting and prosecuting offenders.
The police boss also reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security efforts by providing credible and timely information that could aid the prevention of crime and the arrest of criminal suspects.
The Rivers State Police Command encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through its Complaint Response Unit and Control Room emergency lines.
