President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the killing of about 30 residents of Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the attack as a brutal act of violence against innocent civilians.
The President’s reaction was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, reportedly claimed the lives of about 30 people, including women and children, while several homes were razed by the assailants.
Reacting to the incident, Tinubu described the assault as a senseless and cowardly attack on defenceless citizens, assuring Nigerians that those behind the killings would be identified and brought to justice.
“Those who seek to destabilise the hard-fought peace and security, which Kaduna State has enjoyed in recent times, will not go unpunished,” the President said.
Tinubu sympathised with the families of the victims and extended his condolences to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, the state government and the people of Kaduna over the tragic incident.
He also assured the affected communities of the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace and addressing the security situation in the area.
The President disclosed that he had directed the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations in the affected communities to apprehend the attackers, rescue abducted victims and restore normalcy.
“I have directed the Armed Forces, police, and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to track down the perpetrators swiftly, secure the release of abducted individuals, and restore normalcy to the region,” he said.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s determination to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and enhance the capacity of security personnel to combat criminal elements across the country.
“Our administration has an unwavering commitment to strengthening security infrastructure, equipping response personnel, and neutralising criminal networks attempting to disrupt the peace of the nation,” he added.
The President further appealed to residents to work closely with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that would help prevent future attacks and improve emergency response efforts.
“I urge our local communities to cooperate with security forces by providing actionable intelligence that would help early response efforts,” he said.
