Bandits have reportedly demanded ₦500 million for the release of Jamila, a pregnant woman abducted in Millennium City, Kaduna State, as concerns grow over her safety and that of her unborn child.

The ransom demand was disclosed by local security reporter Bakatsine, who called on security agencies, government authorities and other relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts to secure her release.

In a post, the reporter urged Nigerians not to lose sight of Jamila’s plight following reports that Ahmed Zakka and his young family had regained their freedom from captivity.

“Since Ahmed Zakka and his young family regained their freedom, we must also remember Jamila, the pregnant woman still being held by bandits after her abduction in Millennium City, Kaduna State,” Bakatsine wrote.

According to the reporter, the abductors contacted Jamila’s husband and demanded ₦500 million as ransom for her release.

Bakatsine also disclosed that Jamila had reportedly sent a distress message expressing fears for her life while appealing for urgent intervention to secure her freedom.

“In a heartbreaking message, Jamila reportedly expressed fears for her life,” the reporter stated.

The circumstances surrounding her abduction, including the exact date she was taken, were not immediately established.

Expressing concern over her continued detention, Bakatsine called on security agencies and government authorities to take urgent action to ensure her safe return.

“Please, we need to turn our attention now to her too. We appeal collectively to the authorities, security agencies and everyone who can help to do everything possible to secure her safe rescue,” the reporter added.

The reporter further stressed that Jamila’s pregnancy makes the situation particularly concerning, given her potential need for medical attention and appropriate care while in captivity.

“Jamila is pregnant and needs urgent help. Her family is waiting for her, and her unborn baby deserves a chance at life,” Bakatsine said.

The reported ₦500 million ransom demand has added to the concerns surrounding the case, with the family facing uncertainty over the steps required to secure her release.

It was not immediately clear whether the family had formally reported the incident to the police or other security agencies, or whether a rescue operation had been initiated.

Kaduna State has continued to grapple with security challenges, including kidnappings for ransom, which have left victims and their families facing prolonged uncertainty and distress.
