Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has relieved the Commissioner for Works, Stanley Lebechi Mbam, of his appointment with immediate effect.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.
According to the statement, Nwifuru directed Mbam to immediately vacate the office and hand over all government property in his possession, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the State Government.
The former commissioner was also instructed to transfer his official responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works.
The statement did not disclose the reason for Mbam’s removal.
The governor, however, assured residents that his administration remained committed to effective governance and the continued improvement of public infrastructure across the state.
Mbam’s removal comes months after he was suspended indefinitely by Nwifuru in March 2026 over alleged dereliction of duty. He was suspended alongside the then Commissioner for Infrastructure Concession for Development, Ogbonnaya Abara.
The affected commissioners were later recalled in May, although details surrounding the recall were not immediately made public.
The latest directive marks another disciplinary action against Mbam under the Nwifuru administration.
