The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old man, Jude Thaddeus, popularly known as Musa, whose decomposing body was discovered in a dry well at his residence in Aku Village, Base 5, Karu Local Government Area.
The incident was uncovered after the deceased's younger sister, Jennifer Alain, 46, reported him missing at the Aso Pada Police Division on November 3, 2026, following several unsuccessful attempts to reach him on his telephone. She told the police that an unknown person repeatedly answered calls made to her brother's number.
In a statement released on Friday, the police said detectives launched an investigation into the disappearance, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect, Yusuf Musa.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was employed by the deceased about three months before the incident to take care of his domestic animals. He was also introduced to the victim's neighbours and other members of the community.
Further findings indicated that the deceased had been missing since October 22, 2026, while the suspect allegedly took possession of his mobile phone and used it to deceive people making enquiries about his whereabouts.
The suspect reportedly told callers that his employer, whom he also described as his father, had travelled to England.
Investigators also discovered that some of the deceased's personal belongings, livestock and other properties had been disposed of under suspicious circumstances.
The police further disclosed that the suspect confessed to selling some of the victim's heavy metals and industrial engines for ₦3.4m.
The investigation eventually led detectives to a dry well within the deceased's compound, where his decomposed remains were recovered.
The command confirmed that two suspects had been taken into custody, adding that investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and determine the individual roles of those arrested.
