President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he is expected to perform the Islamic lesser pilgrimage, Umrah.

The President arrived at the King Abdulaziz International Airport on Thursday night after departing Abuja earlier in the day.

He was welcomed by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yakubu Gambo, and the Head of Saudi Arabia’s Royal Protocol, Ahmad bin Thafir.

Tinubu’s visit is primarily for the religious exercise, which involves travelling to the holy city of Makkah to perform specific Islamic rites.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier explained in a statement on Wednesday that the President’s trip would provide an opportunity for spiritual reflection and prayers for Nigeria.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu is expected to seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for the country, particularly in areas of peace, unity, stability and national development.

The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week.
