Under the latest postings, Major General IA Ajose has been appointed Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), taking over following his redeployment from the Department of Army Operations at Army Headquarters.
The Nigerian Army said the appointments were aimed at strengthening leadership in key operational theatres and ensuring that experienced officers are deployed to positions critical to addressing the country’s evolving security challenges.
Major General AE Abubakar, formerly with OPHK, has been posted to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC) as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research. Major General AM Alechenu has also been redeployed from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Garrison to the NAHFC, while Major General RT Utsaha moves from the Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to the DHQ Garrison as Commander.
Similarly, Major General AM Umar has been appointed Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria after his redeployment from the Department of Civil-Military Affairs. Major General UM Alkali, who previously served at the Army War College Nigeria, has been posted to the Department of Civil-Military Affairs.
Major General GS Muhammed has moved from the Office of the National Security Adviser to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation (NAFIC) as Director General, while Major General JE Osifo has been redeployed from NAFIC to the Military Pension Board as Chairman.
Also affected is Major General IE Ekpenyong, who has been posted to the DHQ Department of Defence Logistics as Director, Engineering Services.
At the Brigadier General level, Brigadier General AA Bello has been redeployed from 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3, Joint Task Force South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, to the Department of Defence Operations at the Defence Headquarters.
Brigadier General MS Adamu has moved from the Nigerian Army Women Command to the newly established 8 Brigade as Commander, while Brigadier General MS Sule has been appointed Commander of 27 Task Force Brigade following his redeployment from Special Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE.
Brigadier General I Sule has also been posted from the Directorate of Recruitment Management to 6 Division Garrison as Commander, while Brigadier General E Azenda moves from the Land Forces Simulation Centre to 2 Division Garrison as Commander.
Brigadier General AS Bugaje, formerly Commander of 2 Division Garrison, has been redeployed to the Land Forces Simulation Centre as Director of Administration.
The Army said the redeployments were part of measures to improve operational effectiveness, reinforce leadership and ensure the deployment of appropriate experience and expertise to critical commands and strategic appointments.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the exercise is expected to enhance operational outcomes, improve joint and inter-agency coordination and strengthen the Army’s capacity to respond effectively to emerging and contemporary security threats.
The COAS charged the newly appointed commanders and senior officers to justify the confidence placed in them through professional conduct, innovative leadership, operational effectiveness and commitment to duty.
He also urged them to remain focused on the Nigerian Army’s constitutional responsibilities, particularly the defence of the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as support for civil authorities in maintaining peace and security.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining a dynamic leadership and force-employment structure in line with the country’s national security objectives.
