The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across several states, including the rescue of an abducted victim, arrests in homicide and cult-related cases, recovery of firearms and stolen property, and the disruption of suspected vandalism operations.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, on Monday.
In Kogi State, joint security forces rescued an abducted male victim unhurt on September 26 following sustained bush-combing and rescue operations. The abductors reportedly fled into the forest after teargas was deployed, while clearance operations continue at identified blackspots to apprehend the perpetrators. The case is being investigated by the SCID in Lokoja.
In Bauchi State, police responded to an assault reported at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate on September 27, leading to the arrest of a suspect and recovery of the weapon allegedly used in the incident. The SCID Bauchi is investigating.
In Taraba State, police restored calm following a violent disturbance at UMCN Church, Kwanti Gana. One suspect was arrested with a knife and hammer, while a follow-up operation led to the arrest of another suspect identified as a principal mastermind of the attack. The SCID Jalingo is handling the investigation.
In Delta State, security operatives responded to an abduction incident at Owen Village, Ughelli, on September 26. An injured victim was evacuated to hospital, while a motorcycle was recovered. Bush-combing operations remain ongoing to rescue the abducted victim and arrest the perpetrators.
Also in Delta State, police arrested a suspect following a fatal road traffic accident at Hausa Market, Okpanam, and took the driver involved into custody. In a separate incident at Okpanam, detectives arrested a suspect in connection with a reported stabbing.
In Anambra State, police acting on intelligence intercepted suspected hoodlums transporting a stolen Toyota RAV4 SUV. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and escaped into the bush, while the recovered SUV was taken to the station. In a separate operation at Fegge, Onitsha, police tactical teams arrested a suspected cult member following a distress call.
Gombe State police arrested a suspect linked to a violent attack at Koran Zaki Quarters, Gombe, on September 26. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects still at large, with the SCID Gombe handling the investigation.
In Nasarawa State, police arrested a suspect for alleged unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, recovering a locally made revolver pistol and two live rounds. In another operation, officers recovered a locally made pistol, a live round and two empty shells during an investigation into a fatal road accident. The vehicle involved was also impounded.
In Akwa Ibom State, police on stop-and-search duty arrested a suspect allegedly transporting adulterated dry gin. Five cartons containing 24 bottles each were recovered, alongside additional exhibits found at the suspect’s residence.
In Imo State, police and other security personnel foiled an alleged vandalism operation at the Water Board in Okigwe. The suspected vandals fled, abandoning a truck loaded with vandalised equipment. The vehicle and equipment were recovered.
The Nigeria Police Force said the various cases remain under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, with further operations ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects and bring those responsible to justice.
