President Bola Tinubu has ordered security and intelligence agencies to commence an urgent and coordinated operation to secure the release of victims abducted during the recent attacks in Niger State.

The directive followed reports of the killing and abduction of residents in the state, an incident the President described as a brutal assault on innocent citizens.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu instructed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant agencies to immediately mobilise resources towards rescuing the victims.

He further directed the Service Chiefs to keep him regularly informed of developments until all those abducted are safely accounted for.

Tinubu condemned the attackers as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity,” stressing that those behind the violence would be brought to justice.

The President expressed sympathy to families who lost loved ones in the attack, while praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their relatives to cope with the loss.

He also assured affected communities that the Federal Government would not abandon them, saying security agencies would continue to intensify efforts to protect lives and property and confront terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities.

“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free,” Tinubu said.

He added that the government would continue to deploy the necessary security resources to Niger State and work closely with the state government to strengthen security, support affected communities and facilitate recovery.

“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” the President stated.

He assured residents of Niger State that the Federal Government remained committed to bringing the abducted victims home safely and providing the necessary support during the crisis.
