The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has terminated the appointment of a staff member found to have extorted unsuspecting candidates.
JAMB disclosed this in its weekly bulletin on Monday, saying the disciplinary action formed part of its renewed efforts to eliminate fraud and other forms of misconduct from the admission and examination system.
The Board said its campaign against fraudulent practices was not restricted to individuals operating outside the organisation, stressing that employees found violating its rules would also face appropriate sanctions.
According to JAMB, the affected staff member was dismissed after being found to have exploited candidates, adding that the action was intended to reinforce its zero-tolerance stance on corruption and unethical conduct.
The Board warned its workforce against engaging in activities capable of compromising its operations, undermining its integrity or taking advantage of candidates and members of the public.
It stated that disciplinary measures would be imposed on any employee found guilty of such conduct, irrespective of rank or position.
JAMB further said it would not shield staff members who abused their offices or betrayed the trust placed in them by candidates and members of the public.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a transparent, accountable and professional workforce, noting that efforts to protect the integrity of the admission and examination processes must begin within the organisation.
