Tension briefly erupted at a polling unit in Ile-Ife on Saturday after the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, arrived at the voting centre of Osun State Deputy Governor and Accord Party deputy governorship candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi.
Adereti had already voted at his designated polling centre, Waasin Polling Unit 11, Ilaare Ward 3, before visiting Adewusi’s polling unit.
His arrival reportedly sparked a confrontation with some supporters of the Accord Party candidate, leading to an exchange of words and a brief disruption at the polling centre.
The situation heightened tensions among supporters before calm was restored, with voting activities continuing.
The reason behind Adereti’s visit to the deputy governor’s polling unit was not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.
The incident, however, attracted attention at the polling centre as supporters reacted to the APC candidate’s presence.
